All Things Weather On SFTR

Did you know that the weather at SFTR has been monitored for over 20 years?  And that the data has been recorded all that time?  It was first provided by Walt Wolff, long-time resident on the Ranch.  Until 2012, he faithfully recorded the data and placed it on the original SFTR web site.  At that point, be gave his equipment to Bob Scott, who captured the data until his equipment died in 2018.  From that time, the data has been captured by the StargateCOlorado weather station.

When the decision was made to move to a new web site, all of the data was archived.  At that time, I started moving the data (over 90,000 data points!) into spreadsheets and text files.  From there, the data was turned into charts and tables, which are available below.  The first file shows a high-level summary of the weather from 2001 to the present day.  The files below that provide more detailed information (more than you'll ever want to know!!) for each year.

The current Ranch weather conditions are also available on-line from the StargateCOlorado weather station.  There are two web sites where that information is available:

Want to be able to see the Ranch weather on-the-go?  There are multiple ways to do that:

  • There are currently two phone apps available: WeatherLink and Weather Underground (the Weather Cloud app is not yet available).  They are available at the Apple Store (for iPhones) and Google Play (for Android devices).
  • You can also access the Weather Underground and Weather Cloud web sites via your phone browser using the links provided above..

NOTE: the current data is available ONLY when the computer is communicating with the weather station.  For some unknown reason, the weather station and the computer occasionally don't like to talk to each other!!
